U.S. Statement at the Universal Periodic Review of Luxembourg
43rd Session
Delivered by Ambassador Michèle Taylor

Thank you, Mr. President.

The United States welcomes the delegation from Luxembourg led by His Excellency Mr. Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.

The United States commends Luxembourg’s longstanding commitment to the promotion of democracy and human rights and its support for UN agencies.

We recommend that Luxembourg:

  1. Continue to strengthen efforts to counter and prevent trafficking in persons, including increasing victim services funding, improving training for judges on the effects of trafficking on victims, and developing more safeguards to protect victims against traffickers freed on suspended sentences.
  2. Continue efforts to counter antisemitism, including by fully implementing the national strategy.
  3. Ensure persons with disabilities can access education, employment, health services, public spaces, and transportation on an equal basis with others so that they are truly included in all spheres of life.

We wish Luxembourg a very successful UPR.

I thank you.
