ACT-Accelerator Facilitation Council

Statement of the United States

As Delivered by
Colin McIff
Acting Director
Office of Global Affairs
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Thank you for the opportunity to take the floor at this important meeting. As President Biden expressed on his first day in office, the United States will partner with the WHO and the entire UN system to respond to COVID-19, improve global health and health security, and build a better future for all people.

Today, as we work together to advance multilateral efforts for COVID-19 vaccine, therapeutic, and diagnostic distribution, equitable access, and research and development, this collective effort is extremely important.

As such, the United States is pleased to transition from observer to participant in the ACT-Accelerator Facilitation Council and plans to participate in these meetings going forward.

We want to underscore the commitment of the United States to multilateralism and our common cause to respond to this pandemic and improve global public health.
