This weekend, world leaders and the international community gathered at the U.N. to adopt the next set of global goals to end poverty and ensure a world of extreme possibilities. The United States supports the vision for development represented by the global goals and the new tools and approaches.
As the world’s largest donor to global health, the United States has made unprecedented commitments in support of countries as they invest in the health of their own citizens—giving every woman and every child the opportunity to lead a healthy, productive life.
Saturday, building on the progress made and lessons learned, the U.N. Secretary-General, joined by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator Alfonso Lenhardt and world leaders, launched an updated Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, a roadmap for ending all preventable deaths of women, children, and adolescents by 2030.
The updated Global Strategy will galvanize action and results for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a focus on supporting the transition from health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the SDGs. USAID is proud to be a partner of Every Woman Every Child, and we are unwavering in our commitment to the updated Global Strategy.
