The Migrants in Countries in Crisis Initiative (MICIC) is a State-led effort to improve the ability of States and other stakeholders to prepare for and respond to the needs of migrants caught in countries in situations of acute crisis, whether as a result of conflict or natural disaster, including protecting their dignity and alleviating suffering. Led by the United States of America and the Philippines, MICIC has embarked on a series of regional and thematic consultations to seek input from stakeholders on how to plan for and respond to the needs of migrants in the pre-crisis, during crisis, and post-crisis phase. The voluntary, non-binding guidelines and effective practices will be developed by July 2016. For more information, please visit the MICIC website.
