U.S. Mission marks moment of silence in solidarity with France and the French people
Yesterday a crime was committed in the City of Light. An attack against France and an attack against freedom and tolerance. A free and open media was victimized yesterday, as journalists are too often victimized by those who fear freedom of expression.
The people of France have shown their solidarity with America in our most difficult moments. Today we wish to show our solidarity with France and the French people, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to the values of freedom and tolerance. They will forever be stronger than hatred and bigotry.
I ask that you please now join me in a minute of silence.
