The following is an excerpt from the concluding summary

The United States strongly supports a stand -alone goal on gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment in the Post- 2015 Development Agenda. The United States also supports mainstreaming of gender into all relevant Sustainable Development Goals, as gender inequalities continue to contribute to slow and uneven development progress globally. In addition, the United States recognizes that progress for women and girls will be possible only by including gender – sensitive indicators and requiring the collection of sex and age disaggregated data across all goals and targets. Priority areas include:

1) prevention and response to gender – based violence;

2) advancing women’s economic empowerment;

3) promoting women’s public and private leadership; and

4) improving universal access to sexual and reproductive health services and promoting women’s reproductive rights.
