Ambassador Daniel A. Sepulveda, the U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, will lead the U.S. delegation to the WSIS +10 High Level Event (HLE) in Geneva, Switzerland held June 10-13, 2014. The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) took place through two phases in Geneva, Switzerland in 2003 and Tunis, Tunisia in 2005 and focused on promoting and fostering the potential of information and communication technologies for development. The WSIS+10 HLE will review the implementation of WSIS outcomes and take stock of achievements in the last 10 years.

The U.S. delegation will join delegates from over 80 countries and stakeholders from business, civil society, and academia. WSIS+10 HLE is coordinated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other UN agencies.

The United States appreciates the opportunity to review the implementation of WSIS and reaffirm the commitment of the multistakeholder community to increase access to the Internet and improve broadband capacity in developing countries.
