Advisory Committee Members Should Serve no More Than Two Terms
U.S. Statement on the Election of Members of the Advisory Committee
Thank you Mr. President.
The United States would like to take this opportunity to recall paragraph 74 of the Institution Building Package, which provides that members of the Advisory Committee shall be eligible for re-election once. We believe that this rule prohibits members of the Advisory Committee from serving more than two terms on that body. We think this rule serves a salutary and important purpose in permitting new candidates with fresh perspectives to gain seats on the Advisory Committee.
We hope that States consider this rule and the purpose it serves in deciding upon nominations of candidates to this body.
Thank you.
