World Humanitarian Day and 10th Anniversary of the Canal Hotel Bombing
3 MINUTE READ
August 19, 2013

On World Humanitarian Day 2013, United Nations staff, diplomats, and members of civil society gathered at the Palais des Nations in Geneva to commemorate the UN personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Ambassador Betty E. King attended the wreath-laying ceremony organized by the UN and Geneva- based humanitarian organizations as well as the broadcast of the global commemoration ceremony led by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York. The U.S. Mission supports the dedicated efforts of humanitarian workers worldwide, and on this day, 10 years after the tragic bombing of the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq, commends them for their service. #WHD2013
