On September 15, the UN Offices in Geneva threw open their doors to the public and invited Missions and other UN organizations to highlight their work on UN Open Day, which attracted more than 8,000 members of the public. The U.S. Mission stand highlighted the Mission’s Green Team activities in keeping with the theme of 2012: the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All. Our stand included images of our greening initiatives from the solar panels, the MagLev Chiller, the meadows, and the community garden; a display of one of the electric bikes, part of our transportation fleet that aims to reduce our carbon footprint, and iPads loaded with videos of the Mission’s solar panel installation, the MagLev Chiller and the electric bikes, as well as an overall presentation on our Green Mission activities.
