The Temple Jazz Orchestra (TJO) performed at the United Nations Assembly Hall on Thursday July 5, in celebration of Independence Day.

Founded in 1990 and directed by Thomas Fairlie, TJO is part of the Temple College Performing Arts Department. Originally a collaboration of traditional music students and adult musicians, TJO has become the premier jazz ensemble in central Texas and now boasts the best professional jazz musicians and educators from the Temple region. All TJO musicians are devoted to jazz education and performance.

TJO has received recognition at renowned international jazz festivals including the Montreux Jazz Festival where they performed for the second time this year.
