Ambassador Donahoe Meets With Libya’s Interim Minister of Justice and Human Rights

Ambassador Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe, U.S. Representative to the Human Rights Council, met with Libya’s Interim Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Mohammed al-Allagi, in Geneva September 21.

The Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the TNC to protect human rights and uphold Libya’s international human rights obligations.  Ambassador Donahoe commended Libya for making a clear, public commitment to respect and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms during the Human Rights Council session earlier this week. Minister Al-Allagi and Ambassador Donahoe shared the mutual commitment of the United States and Libya to work together to advance human rights once Libya is reinstated at the Council.
