Ambassador Jackie Wolcott Sanders
U.S. Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament
Assumes Her Duties in Geneva
Ambassador Jackie Wolcott Sanders has arrived in Geneva and formally
assumed her duties as U.S. Permanent Representative to the Conference
on Disarmament and Special Representative of the President for
the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
Ambassador Sanders presented her credentials to Sergei A. Ordzhonikidze
Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament, on December
23, 2003.
Ambassador Sanders serves jointly as the United States Representative
to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and the Special Representative
of the President for the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
In this dual capacity, Ambassador Sanders will be working with
the Arms Control and Nonproliferation Bureaus to reinvigorate
the Conference on Disarmament, represent the United States at
other multilateral arms control fora, achieve a successful outcome
at the 2005 Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference, and implement
United States government policies on preventing the proliferation
of nuclear weapons.
