U.S. ANNOUNCES ADDTIIONAL $26.2 MILLION
CONTRIBITION TO UNHCR

The Government of the United States announces an additional contribution of $26,200,000 to the United Nations High Commissioner for the Refugees (UNHCR) to support the following activities:

Africa $6,000,000
East Asia $1,000,000
Europe $6,000,000
Near East $ 700,000
Western Hemisphere $1,600,000
South Asia $1,700,000
Global Operations $2,795,000
Headquarters $2,000,000
Country Specific Children's Programs $3,905,000
Refugee Women's Programs in Africa $ 300,000

These funds are provided by the United States Department of State's Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.

This brings the total U.S. contribution to UNHCR in FY 2001 to a total of $172,561,000.
