BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

The incumbent has to perform a combination of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Special knowledge of woodworking, including fabrication of basic items as well as repair of furniture, including assembly of modular furniture.

Repairs and maintains mechanical and sanitary installations in the Mission building and government owned or leased residences, repairs wooden office and household furniture, including picture frames.

Moves office equipment and furniture as required, including set up of conference rooms. Performs or directs emergency repairs/services for plumbing installations including appliance hookups. Drives a vehicle to transport equipment, furniture, supplies and tools as needed, other duties as assigned.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION 

The incumbent will provide medical care and appropriate health information, advice and disease prevention programs to include but not be limited to general internal medicine to US Direct Hire employees and their dependents.

The incumbent has to maintain communication with and evaluate the capabilities of local providers on an ongoing basis and has to serve as a physician consultant to the HU nurses. She/he will diagnose and treat patients as appropriate according to his/her scope of medical practice.

The incumbent has to make recommendations and effect medical evacuation of appropriate patients. And has to provide the Office of Medical Services with program, activities, and statistical reports as directed. She/he will advise patients on health resources in the community and region.

Primarily, the State Department uses the ForeSee Results American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) online survey on an ongoing basis to obtain feedback and data on visitor satisfaction with our websites. This survey does not collect PII. Although the survey invitation pops up for a random sample of visitors, it is optional, and not all embassy websites carry the survey. If you decline the survey, you will still have access to the identical information and resources at our site as those who do take the survey. The Medical Musical Group performing at the United Nations in Geneva

Geneva – On November 15, 2011 the U.S. Mission organized a classical musical concert by Medical Musical Group at the United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva Switzerland.  Medical Musical Group (MMG) is a chorale and orchestra group comprised of medical professionals, who have performed in London, Berlin and Paris in recent years as part of their “Healing for the Nations” concert series.

The theme of the concert was “Tous Pour Un, Un Pour Tous.” MMG collaborated with local choirs and orchestras for the event, which was also sponsored by the Swiss Mission.  The concert program emceed by Jim Bitterman, CNN, and Victoria Morgan, France 24, included classical pieces such as Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy in addition to American classics like John Philip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes, and featured appearances by soloists including Michele Tiziano and Elisa Belmonte.

The Award-winning Medical Musical Group (MMG) is the world’s premier medical chorale and symphony orchestra. Members are doctors, nurses and others from the Veterans Administration (VA) and other US medical centers and schools. MMG’s mission is to perform Music with a Message – of healing, hope, inspiration, patriotism, peace and brotherhood. Concerts frequently benefit health causes.

The MMG, a non-profit organization, has performed at Carnegie Hall (New York), Kennedy Center and Constitution Hall (Washington, DC), Symphony Center (Chicago), Davies Hall (San Francisco), the Las Vegas Hilton Theater (Las Vegas), St. Andrews Cathedral Honolulu (Hawaii), as well as for the US Congress, the United Nations and at the White House.

MMG has also performed overseas–in Australia, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy (and the Vatican), New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Spain and Sweden.

Electronic Bikes at the U.S. Mission

On October 27th, the U.S. Mission’s Green team gathered for a demonstration of the Mission’s electric bicycles (or “e-bikes”). The e-bikes are available for travel by Mission employees to meetings and conferences around Geneva and are part of the Mission’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The group discussed important features of the e-bikes, safety and storage tips, as well as best practices in e-bike riding. The e-bikes are already a popular transportation choice at the Mission and we expect that this demonstration will only enhance the popularity of this clean transit option.
